Matthew M. Bolton, M.D., is a physician board-certified in Family Medicine since 1991 with 17 years of experience in primary care, urgent care, and emergency care medicine. Dr. Bolton graduated Magna Cum Laude from Freed-Hardeman University with his Bachelor of Science in 1984 and from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences with his M.D. in 1988. He completed his internship and residency at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in Spartanburg, SC, one of the oldest and largest Family Medicine residencies in the nation. He recertified in Family Medicine in 1998 and 2005.
Matt grew up in Henderson, Tennessee, where he excelled in athletics and academics. He was active in various extracurricular activities including various student leadership roles throughout high school and college. Many factors contributed to his choice of medicine as a career including his own family physician, Dr. O.M. McCallum and his continued desire to help others. He believes that medicine allows one to help people more than any other activity with the exception of ministry.
His high school sweetheart, Taryn, and he have two wonderful daughters, Mariel and Ashlyn. He and his family are active in their local church. Dr. Bolton has been blessed to go on medical mission trips and hopes to be able to continue to do so in the future.
